Project Description
E355 Seamless Steel Tube — Overview
E355 (1.0580) is a non-alloy quality steel seamless circular tube specified under EN 10297-1 for mechanical and general engineering purposes. Designation “E” identifies a non-alloy steel grade, and “355” denotes the minimum yield strength of 355 MPa in the normalised delivery condition. With elevated manganese (Mn ≤ 1.60%) and carbon (C ≤ 0.22%) limits, E355 delivers the highest strength among EN 10297-1 non-alloy grades without requiring microalloying. Its balanced strength–ductility profile, refined grain structure from fully killed steelmaking practice, and excellent weldability make it the preferred choice for hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic systems, and demanding mechanical assemblies. FUSHUN METAL supplies EN 10297-1 E355 seamless tubes under ISO 9001 and AS9120B certified quality management, with full traceability per EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification. Every heat undergoes incoming optical emission spectrometry verification and dimensional conformity checks before dispatch. As the top non-alloy grade in the EN 10297-1 series commonly stocked, E355 bridges the gap to microalloyed grades such as E470, offering an optimised cost-strength ratio for volume production environments.

Typical Applications of E355 Seamless Tubes
Hydraulic cylinder barrels, piston rods, pneumatic cylinders, accumulators, telescopic cylinders, and high-pressure oil lines. E355 is the industry-standard grade for honed and SRB-finished cylinder tubes. FUSHUN METAL supplies E355 with tight ID tolerances for honing-ready applications.
Shock absorber outer tubes, suspension strut housings, steering columns, axle sleeves, propeller shaft tubes, torque tubes, and roll cage tubing. E355 high strength-to-weight ratio suits chassis and drivetrain applications.
Textile machinery rollers, printing press cylinders, spinning frames, machine tool spindles, guide columns, and injection moulding machine tie bars. E355 provides consistent mechanical properties for precision rotating and sliding components.
Transmission shafts, coupling sleeves, distance bushes, bearing housings, spacer rings, and structural hollow sections. FUSHUN METAL supplies E355 in hot-finished and cold-finished conditions for multi-purpose engineering use.
Structural columns, bracing members, crane booms, scaffolding tubes, utility poles, and framework for heavy equipment shelters. E355 offers an economical alternative to S355 structural hollow sections.
Gas transmission lines, water supply pipes, oil well casing components, heat exchanger tubes, and geothermal piping. E355 weldability and toughness suit moderate-pressure energy sector applications.
Supply Range of E355 Seamless Tubes

Chemical Composition of E355
Ladle analysis limits per EN 10297-1 for E355 (1.0580). FUSHUN METAL verifies each heat via optical emission spectrometry as part of incoming quality control. The higher Mn limit (1.60%) compared to E315 (1.50%) and E275 (1.40%) provides additional solid-solution strengthening to achieve 355 MPa minimum yield.
| Element | C | Si | Mn | P | S |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Content (max %) | 0.22 | 0.55 | 1.60 | 0.030 | 0.035 |
Aluminium content (Al ≥ 0.020%) is required for fully killed fine-grain practice under EN 10305-1 precision tube applications. No intentional addition of Cr, Ni, Mo, Cu, Nb, V, or Ti is specified for this non-alloy grade.
