Project Description

E315 (1.0236) is a non-alloy quality steel seamless circular tube specified under EN 10297-1 for mechanical and general engineering purposes. The designation “E” identifies a non-alloy steel grade within the EN 10297-1 family, and “315” denotes the minimum yield strength of 315 MPa in the normalized (+N) delivery condition. Positioned between E275 (275 MPa) and E355 (355 MPa), E315 fills a critical middle tier for applications requiring higher strength than standard structural tube grades but not the full alloy content or cost of high-strength alternatives. With elevated manganese content (Mn ≤ 1.50%) relative to E235 (1.20%) and E275 (1.40%), E315 achieves its higher strength through solid-solution strengthening while retaining excellent weldability and good cold formability. Supplied by FUSHUN METAL under ISO 9001 and AS9120B certified quality management systems, every heat is traceable to mill certificates with EN 10204 Type 3.1 documentation. Over 15 years of steel supply expertise enables FUSHUN METAL to provide consistent E315 tubing with reliable mechanical properties across all batch sizes. E315 seamless tubes are widely specified for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, automotive shock absorber and axle components, textile and printing machinery rollers, and precision mechanical assemblies where a 315 MPa minimum yield and consistent wall thickness are non-negotiable.

Typical Applications of E315 Seamless Tubes

Hydraulic & Pneumatic

Hydraulic cylinder barrels, pneumatic cylinder bodies, piston rods, accumulators, and high-pressure fluid lines. E315 provides the strength, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish required for honed and SRB-finished cylinder tubes operating at working pressures up to 250 bar.

Automotive

Shock absorber outer tubes, strut tubes, axle sleeves, steering column shafts, stabilizer bar bushings, and drive shaft spacers. FUSHUN METAL supplies cut-to-length E315 tubes for OEM and aftermarket automotive production lines.

Textile & Printing Machinery

Spinning machine spindles, printing press rollers, tensioning rollers, guide bars, and draw frames. The consistent wall thickness of E315 ensures balanced rotation at high RPM.

Precision Engineering

Sleeve tubes, precision bushings, spacer rings, bearing housings, and machined hollow components. E315 combines good machinability with 315 MPa yield for medium-duty precision applications.

Structural & Frame

Machine frames, roll cages, lifting equipment columns, conveyor rollers, and structural support members in mechanical assemblies where higher strength-to-weight ratio is needed.

General Mechanical

Transmission shafts, coupling sleeves, distance pieces, guide columns, rollers, and general-purpose mechanical tubing. FUSHUN METAL processes E315 to tight dimensional tolerances with EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification for multi-purpose engineering use across diverse industrial sectors.

FUSHUN METAL sources EN 10297-1 E315 seamless tubes exclusively from ISO 9001 and AS9120B-certified mills with proven capability in non-alloy quality steel tube production. Incoming dimensional verification is performed on every batch: outside diameter, wall thickness, straightness, and length are checked against order specifications before the material enters inventory. Custom processing including cut-to-length, beveling, end squaring, and protective chamfering is available. Standard packing: hexagonal bundled with steel straps, plastic end caps for thin-walled tubes, and weatherproof wrapping for sea freight. Partial and mixed-size shipments are supported.

E315 Chemical Composition (Ladle Analysis)

Element Max % Standard
C — Carbon 0.21 EN 10297-1
Si — Silicon 0.30 EN 10297-1
Mn — Manganese 1.50 EN 10297-1
P — Phosphorus 0.030 EN 10297-1
S — Sulfur 0.035 EN 10297-1

FUSHUN METAL verifies each heat via OES as part of its incoming QC protocol before material acceptance. The elevated Mn upper limit of 1.50% — compared to 1.20% for E235 and 1.40% for E275 — enables the 315 MPa minimum yield through solid-solution strengthening of the ferrite matrix without the need for microalloying additions. This keeps E315 cost-effective while delivering a meaningful strength increment over lower EN 10297-1 grades.

Manufacturing & Delivery Condition

Seamless process only (hot-finished, cold-drawn, or cold-rolled). Normalized (+N) is the standard delivery condition per EN 10297-1, achieved by heating to 890–920 °C followed by still-air cooling to produce a uniform ferrite-pearlite microstructure. Alternative conditions: stress-relieved (+SR) at 550–620 °C for improved dimensional stability after machining, or cold-drawn/hard (+C) for maximum strength where ductility is less critical. FUSHUN METAL ensures full compliance through its ISO 9001 and AS9120B audited supply chain, with mill capability verified during supplier qualification.

Testing & Certification

Mandatory: ladle analysis, room-temperature tensile test, flattening test, dimensional inspection, visual surface examination, NDT. EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification issued as standard. Optional: Charpy V-notch impact test, hardness test, eddy current per EN 10893-2, ultrasonic testing per EN 10893-10.

Weldability & Formability

Good arc weldability with standard processes (MIG/MAG, TIG, MMA). Preheat recommended for wall thickness > 25 mm or combined thickness > 40 mm. Good cold formability suitable for bending, flaring, and swaging. Post-weld stress relief at 550–620 °C recommended for critical applications.

Surface Protection & Packaging

Surface finishes: black (as-rolled), pickled & oiled, bright (cold-finished). Corrosion protection: varnish coating, hot-dip galvanizing, or epoxy paint on request. Standard packing: bundled in hexagonal stacks with steel straps, end caps for thin-walled tubes, weatherproof wrapping for sea freight. FUSHUN METAL also offers honed and SRB finishing for hydraulic cylinder applications.
